Avery Robb, MA (CAND.)

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) & Intern Therapist

I am deeply committed to supporting individuals facing mental health challenges, with a primary focus on OCD, anxiety, ADHD, and other forms of neurodivergence. Having navigated these experiences myself, I understand the unique struggles that come with managing mental health in a way that fits your personal experience. My passion for working with neurodivergent individuals stems from both my personal journey and professional background, which together allow me to offer a blend of education, lived experience, and clinical insight.

As someone who has learned to manage the complexities of neurodivergence, I understand the importance of meeting each client where they are, recognizing that no two experiences are the same. It’s essential to approach treatment in a way that reflects each individual’s needs. Whether it’s OCD, ADHD, or anxiety, I strive to create a safe space where clients feel understood and supported in developing coping strategies tailored to their specific challenges. My therapeutic approach emphasizes not only evidence-based practices, but also compassionate guidance drawn from my own experiences, helping clients build the skills they need to thrive.

In addition to my passion for neurodivergence, I am equally dedicated to supporting the families of first responders. Growing up as the daughter of a recently retired police officer, I have firsthand experience of the unique challenges faced by families whose loved ones serve in high-risk roles. Life for these families can be incredibly demanding, as the constant presence of danger can create profound stress and emotional strain. I believe that families of first responders deserve a special level of care and understanding, as their needs often go unnoticed despite the significant impact on their well-being.

My experience within this community has given me a deep appreciation for the emotional resilience required, and I am passionate about providing families with the support they need to navigate these challenges. Whether it’s helping family members process the emotional toll of their loved one’s work or offering coping strategies to manage the uncertainties that come with having a family member in a high-risk profession, I aim to create a space where these families feel heard and supported.

Within my professional life, I have worked with individuals in various settings, including supporting children aged 6-14 in an after-school environment focused on emotional regulation and social skills. This experience has allowed me to develop strong collaborative skills, working closely with both parents and educators to ensure that children receive the best possible support. My approach emphasizes creating a team around the child, where everyone is aligned in fostering emotional growth and resilience.

At the core of my therapeutic work is a deep commitment to providing compassionate care. My personal experience with mental health has been transformative, giving me a unique understanding of the power of therapy and the importance of a supportive therapeutic relationship. I strive to offer the same type of compassionate, non-judgmental support that was instrumental in my own healing process. My goal is to help clients build insight, develop resilience, and find hope, guiding them through their mental health journey with empathy, understanding, and the tools they need to thrive. Whether working with neurodivergent individuals, teenagers, young adults, or families of first responders, I bring a calm demeanor, deep empathy, and a dedication to helping others on their path to wellness.

Are you curious about Avery?

I decided to pursue becoming a therapist because I felt that my personal experience with mental health could provide value and support to someone going through something similar. When I was amid my mental health journey with OCD and anxiety, I was embarrassed that I was having such distressing thoughts, mostly because I did not know what was going on. It was not until my own therapist helped me with learning about these disorders, coping mechanisms and who I was outside of having OCD and anxiety that I knew I had found my passion. When I started to understand what living with OCD and anxiety would look like for me, I knew I needed to help others find that as well. Being a teenager and young adult with an anxiety disorder is very difficult, and with my firsthand experience, I knew I needed to take that educational and career path to achieve the goal of helping others through a similar journey.

I love to find inspiration anywhere with a beach, this could be camping, an all-inclusive holiday or the lakes near by.

Exercising x3 times per week. Getting as much sleep as possible (8-10 hours per night). Listening and being in tune with my body as to what I need, whether that be time by myself, exercising, or taking care of my mental health.

The biggest interests that show a bit about myself is around travelling with my family, camping, watching true documentaries, and being creative with crafts.
